A mantel is one of the few pieces of trim carpentry that functions as furniture — it needs to be built solid, sized exactly to your fireplace opening, and finished to match or intentionally contrast with the room around it. I build custom wood mantels for both wood-burning and electric fireplaces, in stain-grade hardwood or paint-grade material depending on the look you're after.
Every mantel is measured and built to fit the specific opening it's going over, not pulled from a standard size chart, which means clean, consistent reveals on both sides and a scale that actually suits the room instead of looking like an add-on. I often pair mantel builds with surrounding trim or an accent wall treatment so the whole fireplace wall reads as one finished feature rather than a mantel bolted onto plain drywall.
This fits new fireplace installs, renovations where an old mantel needs replacing, and rooms that have a fireplace opening with no mantel at all yet. I personally build and install every mantel — no subcontractors, no handoff.
